Small Zoo Network Contacts Chancellor on Upcoming Business Rates Increases

The Small Zoo Network has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer regarding the forthcoming increases in business rates, highlighting the serious impact these could have on small zoos and wildlife attractions across the UK.

While recent support announcements have recognised some parts of the hospitality sector, small zoos, many of which operate as not-for-profit organisations, risk being overlooked. Our letter outlines how rising business rates directly affect animal welfare, conservation programmes, education, and local community engagement.

We have urged the Government to ensure that small zoos and wildlife attractions are explicitly included in any additional business rates relief or support measures, helping to protect vital work for animals, conservation, and local economies.

Members are encouraged to take action themselves by sending personalised letters to their local MPs and the Chancellor. A template letter is available to download from the resources area of our website.
